CASology #4

Welcome to week 4 of CASology!  Thanks to all those who played along last week and we hope you're ready to play again!

Here's the cue card for this week:

I hemmed and hawed for ages about what bird stamp to use for my card and finally decided on this neglected Unity image.  The bird cages are adhered at 3 different heights which helps to give some dimension and interest to the card.  Before you leap up to go start your design have a look at the work of the rest of our fabulous design team!

Also our fabulous guest designer:

Link up your creations at the Casology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 5 August at noon CST.

BCBG Friend

I went a little crazy with the pattern on my card for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge.  I zeroed in on the little vertical stripes along the bottom of the dress and used strips of card to make similar stripes.  I originally intended to just use one strip like on the dress but then I started playing around with the strips and kind of dug this fun pattern.  So I used all of them! The matted panel is inspired by the shoes and I thought it needed a very simple sentiment to finish it off - this Paper Smooches one fit the bill perfectly!

Linking this up at Simon Says Stamp too!

Sweet Vintage Sunshine

I recently got some stamps from Sweet Stamp Shop and wanted to have a play with them before they collected too much dust.  Is anyone else like that?  There's nothing like receiving new stamps to make me suddenly get interested in my old stock!

Anyway, the Sweet Vintage set has a flourishy frame that looked to me like the sun so I used the colours from the Just Us Girls challenge and created a happy little sunrise with it.

And it's Anything Goes time over at the Simon Says Stamp challenge again so get your cards in for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!!

Christmas In July

**This is my second post today.  For my Paper Smooches GD post please scroll down or click here!**

Thank you, CAS-ual Fridays, for prompting me to make my first Christmas card of the year.  Only about a zillion more to go now!  :)

This week's challenge is to use a black card base and I thought this reindeer stamp from Market Street Stamps would look cool embossed in white on black card stock.  I couldn't resist giving him a shiny red nose and I used some silver twine to attach the sentiment.  I'm also sending this card over to Simon Says Stamp where they're having an Anything Goes challenge and giving us a chance to win a $50 gift certificate! Whoop whoop!

Paper Smooches GD Take Four & A Giveaway!

Happy Halfway Day (as Kim has officially dubbed Wednesdays in this post)!  Today is my final day as the July Guest Designer for Paper Smooches.  Despite some initial panic (The stamps haven't arrived!!  The stamps have arrived but now what the heck am I going to make??), I've ended up having a lot of fun playing with the new releases.  :)  I've got two more cards to share with you and also a giveaway so hang in there until the end of the post!

I loved those cute dust bunnies from the first moment I saw Squeaky Clean and have had a few versions of this card running through my mind.  I finally managed to get one onto paper this week.  All the images are from Squeaky Clean and the sentiment is created from Alphadot.  What would I have done without that set these last few weeks?

My second card uses the iPod and a sentiment from Teen Routine.  I made the rainbow using a wavy die.  The music notes are from Teen Routine, Perpetual Bliss and Santa Paws.

Thanks to everyone who has left such sweet supportive comments these last few weeks - they have meant so much to me!  I've got the Paper Smooches Chit Chat set to give away to one lucky commenter so leave me a message by midnight (ADT) on Friday and I'll post the winner on Saturday.  Have a lovely day and be sure to hop over to Paper Smooches to see Teri's card for the day!

Sweet As Cotton Candy

**This is my second post today.  For my CASology post please scroll down or click here!**

I've been eyeing these pretty colours from the Play Date Cafe and thinking they would work well with a card for the current Lawnscaping challenge.  The carousel in the picture inspired me to pull out my Admit One set although after a few false starts I ended up using the cotton candy instead of the carousel.  The die cuts are Nesties Labels dies and look just like little tickets so I thought they'd be perfect!  I'll be back tomorrow with my final Paper Smooches Guest Designer post as well as a little giveaway so be sure to stop by!  Have a good night!

CASology #3

Wowsers!!  100 entries for our Happy challenge at CASology last week!  There were so many fantastic cards submitted and I really had a hard time with picking my favourite. Thank you all for making my job difficult and keep those entries coming!  LOL!

Here's the cue card for this week:

The orange images and sentiment are from Purple Onion Designs and I confess that they've been sitting uninked for almost a year now.  Thanks to Melissa for giving me a reason to dig them out and use them!  I used a rug stamp from Paper Smooches Vogue Abode set to create the shadow under the oranges so they didn't look like they were just floating in midair.  And, of course, I threw in some gems.  :)  Go check out the other ladies on the team to see their fabulous takes on the cue word:

Also our fabulous Guest Designer:

And when you're done with that get to work on your entry for this week!  Link up your creations at the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 29 July at noon CST.

Paint The Moxie Town!

The weather is finally starting to settle after experiencing lightning and thunder for most of the day.  The hounds were not at all impressed.  They tend to bark at thunder - maybe they think it's another dog?  They also don't appreciate the fact that I am rather adverse to standing in the rain and lightning to throw their ball for them!  Anyhow while they had a boring day I was a busy little bee in the Craft Cave.  Among other things, I made a couple of cards for the July Market Street Stamps Paint the Town Challenge.  I found the colours to be rather tricky at first especially with that silver thrown in there but I ended up making two cards using the flower from the Homegrown set.  For the first card I paper pieced the flowers, popped them up and added a sentiment strip and gems.  For the second card I used the back side of the flower to stamp the circles, stamped the flowers over them and then matted it onto a silver card base.
I'm also going to enter these over at the Stamp It! Cards Week Challenges at the Moxie Fab World - the Thank You challenge and the Hello challenge.  Thanks for looking and hope your week is off to a good start!

With Gratitude

We've had a rather lazy day today but I made it into the Craft Cave for a couple of hours and managed to finally put together the card I've been thinking about for the colour challenge at Paper Smooches Sparks. When I first saw the new Space Cadet set I thought the rocket flames would make good flames for birthday candles and also lovely flower petals.  (Kim also mentioned these as flower petals in this post).  I finally got around to making a flower with them and for the flower centre I used the porthole from the spaceship.  I love how Paper Smooches stamps are so versatile this way!  I'm also going to enter my card in the Stamp It! Cards Week:  Thank You Challenge at the Moxie Fab World.

Life Is Beautiful

Ahhh!  The two weeks of extra shifts at work are over so hopefully I'll have lots of time to catch up with everyone and actually make some cards now.  Yee haw!  For this little card I used the colours from ColourQ and stamps from Market Street Stamps.  I used VersaMark ink on the MSS gingham background stamp to get a subtle pattern on the red cardstock.  I also used a button and some twine!!!  I know... I'm getting a little crazy here.  I thought of that wooden button when I started the card and was really impressed when I actually found it!  LOL!  Must dash now as hubby and I are going to dinner and then to an info session about a potential Portuguese class for me.  Boa noite e ate amanha!

Paper Smooches GD Take Three

Hi there!  I'm back with two more cards as guest designer for Paper Smooches!  When I was a kid I loved those small, hard rubber, multi-coloured bouncy balls - the kind you would get out of machines in front of KMart and places like that.  The planet stamps from Space Cadet reminded me of those balls so I paired them up with some bright colours and the dotted lines from Santa Paws to show them bouncing around this birthday card.  The sentiment is made up of phrases and letters from Party Posse, Word Salad and Alphadot.

My second card is a shout out to my friends in England (like Jenny) who haven't seen the sun in ages and so can't hang out their washing!  I used the basket and detergent bottle from Squeaky Clean and the poles from Hang Ups.  The laundry is made from the tops of the cupcake, ice cream and lollipop from Sugar Rush.  Paper Smooches actually does have a 'Wishing you sunshine' sentiment but it's in the Eco Friendly set which I don't have so I made this one using Chit Chat, Word Salad and Alphadot.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check in to my last guest design post next week as I'll be having a little giveaway!  :)

CASology #2

Hello and thank you so much to everyone who participated in our first challenge at CASology!  We had a fantastic response - 86 entries! - and I had a ball looking through them all.  :)

Here's the Cue Card for this week:

The word Happy reminded me of this PTI die and for some reason I always envision it in red.  I went with a bright and cheery primary colour palette and added some gems and a decorative edge for interest.  Have a look at how it inspired the rest of the DT girls:

And how does the word "Happy" inspire you?  I can't wait to see your take on it!  Link up your creations at the CASology blog and remember that submissions are due by Sunday, 22 July at noon CST.

You Make Me Smile

After only working part time for the last year and a half I'd forgotten how exhausting it is to be at the vet's full time.  My shortest day at work this week was 11 hours and by Friday night all I wanted to do was dive into bed as soon as I got home!  LOL!  Next week won't be quite as bad but still more hours than usual.  I'm looking forward to the end of the month when we have a four day weekend and I can really catch up on some crafting and some blog hopping.  Whoop whoop!

I wanted to get a card in for ColourQ this week and I also wanted to break out my Critters Down Under stamps from Lawn Fawn.  That croc is so cute and seems content just to hang out with his kookaburra buddy (and not to swallow him whole!).  Since there are four layers here (thanks to the matting and fiddly paper piecing) I'm also going to enter this over at the Young Crafters Unite Many Layers challenge.  Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Crocodile & kookaburra from Critters Down Under, Border from Belinda's Borders, Sentiment from Hellos Friend) Lawn Fawn
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (More Mustard, Chocolate Chip) Stampin' Up
