CASology #72

Welcome to Week 72 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

'Tis the season to go shopping!  All the Bermudians are making their annual pilgrimages to New York, New Jersey, Boston and Atlanta to do their Christmas shopping.  It always amazes me that the planes can get off the ground at this time of year - Bermudians know how to shop!  LOL!

My initial thoughts for this challenge went along the same line as Ardyth but once I saw her clever card I decided to try a different idea.  These days pretty much all shopping involves a bar code and Mama Elephant has a super cute one in their Smitten set.  I decided I wanted to go with a really bold background colour and let the black sentiment really pop off of it.  It took a lot of fiddling before I finally decided on sentiment and gem placement but I'm pretty happy with the final result!  And now I want to see the results of your creative wheels turning!  Check out the gorgeous designs from the rest of the DT and then get crackin'!

Link your creations to the CASology blog and remember submissions are due by 4pm CST on Sunday, 1 December.

And while I've got you I want to show off the new washi tape shelf Luis made for me!  I love it!  The shelves are slightly tilted back so the tape stays in place and I've still got room for more!  :D

I took a bit of liberty with this sketch in that I spread out my arrows a bit more that the flowers but I think the bones of the sketch are still pretty clear.

CASology #71

Welcome to Week 71 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

Although it's getting to be the jingle bell time of year right now I needed a wedding card so I took a little break from the Christmas theme and turned to wedding bells!  These little Lawn Fawn bells are so sweet and perfect for a CAS design.  Initially I tried to paper piece them but that ribbon confounded me so finally I broke out the Copics and had a little colouring session.  The ladies of the DT have created their usual array of gorgeous inspiration so check them out and then play along!

CASology #68

Welcome to Week 68 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I've seen several variations of the "eyes in the dark" design and wanted to give it a try.  This week's cue word gave me the perfect opportunity.  To make the eyes I stamped different leaves from Paper Smooches Leafy Greens, cut them, attached them and then covered them with Glossy Accents.  Super easy!  The design would probably make a cute tag too huh? Okay now it's your turn.  Check out the fabulous DT designs and then play along!

CAS(E) This Sketch #51

Welcome to Week 51 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by N@ Ali:

This was a last minute creation for me as I really struggled with this sketch.  In the end I got pretty liberal with it.  I moved the images to the bottom of the card and I imagined the plane and sentiment banner as one piece.  Lots of NBUS happening here - I got to use some ancient Scenic Route alpha stickers and ink up that PTI Santa for the first time.  I also used some sequins I found during a clean out session.  They've been in a drawer for about 5 years - for once I could have been ahead of a trend and I missed my chance!  LOL!  :D

Now it's time for you to skedaddle over to the CAS(E) This Sketch page and check out the gorgeousness from the DT and then play along!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Basic Grey, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Santa from Tremendous Treats: Christmas) Papertrey Ink
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Stickers:  Scenic Route

CASology #67

Welcome to Week 67 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

This week's cue word definitely had me scratching my head a bit (although that's a good thing because it means we'll have lots of interesting interpretations from you guys!)  In the end I couldn't get Jake Bugg's "Country Song" out of my head so I went for a guitar and a song related sentiment.  The guitar looked a little lonely so I added the strip of patterned paper (in a complementary colour) for some balance and interest.  The DT went in all different directions for this cue so check out their awesome work and then play along!

CAS(E) This Sketch #50

Welcome to Week 50 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by Chrissy Larson:

I can't believe we're already at CTS #50!!  I joined the CTS team with Sketch #5 last November.  I was so nervous because I had always struggled with sketch challenges but after almost a year of being forced to use them I have overcome my "Sketch Allergy" and fear them no longer!  Dare I say it but I even enjoy them now.  :D  This week's sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to break out my Circle Burst die.  Actually all three of these dies are seeing the light of day for the first time so this is a real NBUS card.  I also used the colours from Dynamic Duos for my palette.  I can't wait to see how this sketch inspires you so check out the creations by the rest of the CAS(E) This Sketch design team and then get creating!

CASology #66

Welcome to Week 66 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

Just like with harvest images I seem to have a shortage of pumpkin images.  I considered using a pie image (pumpkin pie is my favourite!) or even a coffee image (pumpkin spice latte anyone?) but then I stumbled on this sweet little Purple Onion Designs pumpkin and had to use it!  Then I fount PTI's Tiny Treats: Halloween which had the perfect sentiment. (It also has a pumpkin but I thought this one was cuter.)  :D  The DT ladies have presented their usual array of fantastic creations so check them out and then play along!

Problems With Simon Says Stamp...

I was just wondering if anyone else is having issues with their Simon Says Stamp orders or knows if they're having staff problems or something?

I placed an order on October 2nd (for delivery to a US address) and it still hasn't been shipped.  When I contacted them about it I was told (on Thursday) that they were behind with shipping and that it would be sent "soon".

I know it's a big company but 12 days is a little crazy.  I placed orders with 3 other stamp companies on the same day and those goods have all long since been delivered.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Neon Birthday

Hi there! I'm popping in to share a card for Sweet Stamp Shop's Use What You Have Challenge and the Shopping Our Stash challenge Embossing Times Two.  I decided to use some of the coloured embossing powders (neon pink and neon green) that have been collecting dust (since I pretty much only use clear and white).  I used stamps from Old Fashioned Afternoon and Drops Background and the Sweet Pieces Snapshot Die.

I love penny farthings.  There's one in the town across the harbour from me that I've been fascinated by since I was a kid.  I always wanted one but I'll have to be content with a stamped version for now!

CAS(E) This Sketch #49

Welcome to Week 49 of CAS(E) This Sketch!  Take a look at this week's sketch by Karolyn Loncon:

I ended up with two incarnations of this card.  My first attempt was the card below and I kept dithering about it so I made the card above.  Now the second one doesn't look so bad anymore but I'm not sure which one I like best.  What do you think?

After pondering these two cards be sure and hop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch blog and check out the designs from the rest of the DT.  Then be sure and play along!  Can't wait to see your ideas!

CASology #65

Welcome to Week 65 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

I am really excited to see what people come up with for this week because this word can take you in a lot of directions.  My initial thoughts were of crisp fall or winter days. However, I try to avoid snowy cards as Bermuda is not a snowy place and snow cards don't sell well.  I thought of crisp linens, crisp apples,  apple crisps and then ended up at just crisps (potato chips to you Americans out there).  Sadly I don't have a stamp with a bag of Crisps - just a bag of Chips but once I got crisps on my mind I had to go with it (and I had to crack open a bag of Walkers Prawn Cocktail crisps too!).  What little journey does your mind go on when you see the word Crisp?  Check out where it took the rest of the DT and then show us your stuff!

CASology #64

Welcome to Week 64 of CASology!  Here's the cue word for this week:

Despite the ridiculous number of stamps I own I have almost no harvest related images.  It wasn't until the last box of stamps I pawed through that I came across this Inkadinkado image.  I stamped it on the More Mustard card first in Cajun Craze ink and then again in More Mustard ink to give it a bit of depth.  I love the warm rusty colour of Cajun Craze - it just says autumn to me - and it really lets this image pop.  The CASology Design Team ladies have come up with their usual array of stunning creations.  Go and check them out and then play along with us!

Thinking of Owls

Hello to a new week!  I'm here with not one but three cards for the current Sketchbook Saturday challenge.  A customer asked for three bright Thinking of You cards with owls on them.  I pulled out my Dear Lizzy 6x6 and my favourite Paper Smooches owl and got to work!  I was trying to remember the rules from that card making class about mixing and matching papers.  It's something I do very rarely so I'm not sure if I totally have the hang of it yet but I had fun going very non-CAS!  I'm also going to enter these cards in the Anything Goes challenges at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.

What started out as a dark, rainy and thundery day has turned into an absolutely gorgeous, sunny evening.  The weather has been all over the map these last couple of months and for the first time in years we are ahead of the normal annual rainfall amount.  It has saved us plenty of money since we haven't had to buy water but I think we've spent the same amount in gas trying to keep up with the grass growth!  No complaints though - I'll take having to mow the lawn every week over crunchy, brown grass any day.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Pool Party) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm 6x6) American Crafts
Stamps:  (Owl from Chubby Chums) Paper Smooches, (Sentiment from All Squared Up) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Punch:  (Corner rounder) Marvy Uchida
