A Trio of Challenges

I had some unexpected time to play in the Craft Cave yesterday so I got to join in with some last minute challenges.  I've been admiring the gorgeous inspiration picture at The Heart Desires (I love the turquoise and oranges!) and all the fabulous DT cards.  I used all the challenge elements for my card - the colour palette, a sea creature and geometric shapes.  I inked over a My Favourite Things stencil with VersaMark ink and then clear embossed the little triangles before watercoloring over it.  Then I just stamped and fussy cut the whale and stamped the sentiment on three different orange cardstocks and popped everything up on foam tape.  I'm really please with how it turned out and so glad I managed to join in with the challenge even if it is at the last minute.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Watercolor) Ranger, (Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Whale & sentiment from Keep Swimming) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Clear) Hero Arts
Stencil:  (Tiny Triangles) My Favourite Thing
Gems:  Recollections

Next is an entry for the colour challenge at Just Add Ink.  I combined a Reverse Confetti flamingo with a My Favourite Things sentiment and a Lil' Inker Design sun.  This actually came together pretty quickly so I made another one in reverse pinks.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flamingo legs & face from Fabulous Flamingo) Reverse Confetti, (Sentiment from Tickled Pink) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Crushed Curry) Stampin' Up
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Flamingo) Reverse Confetti, (Stitched sun) Lil' Inker Designs, (Stitched Rectangle) My Favourite Things
Gems:  Recollections

Finally is a card for the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  I used some oldie but goody WPlus9 images and an Altenew sentiment to create this celebration card that is perfect for the 4th of July but could work for other things too.  Bastille Day anyone?

That's it from me.  Have a wonderful day!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Night of Navy) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Pocket & stars from A Pocketful) WPlus9, (Sentiment from Dodecagram) Altenew
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Night of Navy) Stampin' U

CASology #204

Welcome to Week 204 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I decided to go with a British version of "row" for my card.  When you have a row (rhymes with cow) with someone it means you've had an argument with them and after that you probably will need an apology card!  It gave me a good excuse to break out these NBUS Lil' Inker Designs cactus stamps and get them inky.  I know I'm pretty late joining in with the succulents trend but better late than never!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Hello!  I've got a card for CAS(E) This Sketch today using some My Cute Stamps (sadly no longer with us).  It came together pretty quickly.  I think the trickiest part was cutting out the middle of the life preserver.  I'm not that great with an X-acto knife...  :)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

CASology #203

Welcome to Week 203 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

This week we are looking for CAS congratulations of any kind.  I was thinking wedding for my card but the sentiment is versatile and leaves it open for a number of options.  I used Mama Elephant stamps with Wow embossing powder for a clean and crisp look.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Inspired Flowers

I'm back quickly today with a card for The Colour Throwdown.  I was initially inspired by this gorgeous card by Therese of Lost in Paper.  I didn't end up with quite the same loose watercolor look though.  I used the backside of the stamps inked and spritzed with water for the watercolor feel and then wasn't thrilled with it so I overstamped the flowers and leaves with the lined images.  Quite a different look in the end but it's fun to see where inspiration leads you.  :)

Kitties & Butterflies

Hi there!  Since we have a long weekend (Monday is National Heroes Day) Luis and I planned to clean and paint the roof but unfortunately the weather has not been cooperating.  We got the cleaning done but unless tomorrow dawns with blazing sunshine we'll have to wait until next weekend to paint.  In the meantime I got some cleaning and tidying done around the house and then skedaddled to the Craft Cave to play along with some challenges.

First up is a card for Freshly Made Sketches and the Simon Says Wednesday Animal Magic challenge.  I paper pieced this NBUS My Favourite Things kitty and her pillow and popped them up inside an MFT stitched arch.  She's such a sassy little thing isn't she?  I love her!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill
Patterned Paper:  (Capture 6x6) Basic Grey
Stamps:  (Cat & pillow from Cool Cat, Sentiment from Cat-itude) My Favourite Things
Ink:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Stitched Arch) My Favourite Things
Marker:  (R32) Copic
Other:  (White Enamel Accents) Ranger

My second card was inspired by Anita's creation over at Muse.  I decided to channel my inner Ardyth and really strip my design down.  I took inspiration from Anita's colors, the butterflies and the sentiment strip.  Because I went so CAS I'm also going to play along with CAS on Sunday's Butterflies challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Plane Awesome) Taylored Expressions
Ink:  (VersaMark) Tsukineko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Dies:  (Large butterflies) Papertrey Ink, (Small butterfly) My Favourite Things
Glitter:  (ClearWink of Stella) Zig

CASology #202

Welcome to Week 202 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Hi there!  Just in time for Father's Day we have a masculine challenge for you.  I used a sort of faux embossing technique this week.  I attached white die cuts to a white card base which adds some texture and dimension without being too busy.  By using only one colour along with black the design stays simple.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design and then play along!

Best Dad I Ever Saw

I've got another Father's Day card for you today - this one far more CAS than yesterday's.  In fact it came together super quickly which is always rare for me.  A strip of woodgrain paper, a saw die, a sentiment and voila - done!  Love it!

The weekend is almost here!  We're going to a BBQ tomorrow night so I have to bake some S'Mores cookies for that.  Yum!  We'll see how many actually make it to the party...
Any big plans for your weekend?

Best Daddy Ever

I was recently asked to make a Father's Day card from 2 little boys and this idea came into my head pretty quickly.  I thought the primary colours were perfect for kids and it turns out that the dad's father was a pilot so I definitely picked the right images!

I stamped, die cut and Copic coloured the Taylored Expressions airplanes and popped them up on foam tape.  The clouds are Papertrey Ink, the banners are Simon Says Stamp and the letters are Lawn Fawn.  It's bigger than usual - 5x7 - because mom wanted to make sure her little guys had plenty of room to each write a message.  :)  I'm going to enter this in the Father's Day challenge at the Paper Players and also the Father's Day/For a Guy challenge at the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Bashful Blue) Stampin' Up

Inks:  (Versa Fine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Dies:  (Airplanes) Taylored Expressions, (Clouds) Papertrey Ink, (Banners) Simon Says Stamp

Bandaids & Anchors

Hi there!  I have two cards to share with you today for two challenges.  This get well card was inspired by Hannelie's design over at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I masked off the smiley face on the Lawn Fawn bandaid and then stamped it on a rainbow variety of cardstock.  The Paper Smooches get well die is layered 3 times and coated with Glossy Accents.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Bazzill, (Melon Mambo, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Bandaid from On The Mend) Lawn Fawn
Inks:  (Versa Fine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Get well) Paper Smooches

Next is a card for Curtain Call's Sail On inspiration photo.  I combined a Paper Smooches anchor with a Taylored Expressions sentiment and then braided some twine to make my rope.  I love how quickly this came together!
That's it for today - hope you have a lovely one!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Real Red, Island Indigo, Basic Grey) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Punny Man) Taylored Expressions
Inks:  (Versa Fine Onyx Black) Tsukineko
