CASology #272

Welcome to Week 272 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

Ever since I saw this cue word I've had Madonna's song "Cherish" stuck in my head.  Talk about a throwback!  Actually that's the second week in a row that the cue word has gotten me singing and the second week in a row I've ignored the song and gone in another direction.  I went in a matrimonial direction after watching a wedding scene on tv.  My ears perked up at "..to love and to cherish...".  Perfect!  Card idea sorted!

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Dogs, Ornaments and Flowers

I am a sucker for pretty much any stamp set with dogs or cats in it so as soon as I saw them I knew I HAD to have these adorable Christmas pooches from MFT.  I've been coloring them all in today and then I made this card for the ornament challenge at Merry Monday.  This little guy couldn't be more perfect for it!  I actually made a second card with slightly darker colours.  I keep going back and forth on which I like best.  What do you think?

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Textured White) Bazzill, (Poppy Parade, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Dog & ornament from Happy Pawlidays) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukeniko
Die:  (Joy) My Favourite Things
Markers:  (R17, R22, Y17, G05, G14) Copic

Next up is a card for two challenges - The Colour Throwdown and The Flower Challenge.  The Flower Challenge is celebrating their one year anniversary and wants us to use our favourite flower.  I have an awful lot of flower stamps and there are a few that I turn to more than others including this Altenew bloom.  It's popped up on my blog a lot and I especially love it embossed in white on black cardstock.  Here I paired it with some old Basic Grey paper and some PTI flowers.  It came together quite quickly so I made some more in different colours.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Kioshi 12x12) Basic Grey

CASology #271

Welcome to Week 271 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this cue word was Justin Bieber's song, "Sorry".  Clearly nothing came of that thought in the end but perhaps one of these days the idea in my brain will find it's way onto cardstock.  For now though we have the adorable Naughty Newton of Newton's Nook to illustrate the cue word.  I love this guy.  He's so darn cute you can't even get mad at him!  Actually the sentiment should probably be, "Sorry (not sorry)" because you know he is not at all distressed about the havoc he wreaks.  In fact, he even looks a little proud of himself...

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Card Trio

Hi there!

I have a few more cards for the Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations and a few other challenges.  First up is for Lea's Rainbow Colour challenge at W&W.   I used the All Framed Up dies from Reverse Confetti and because all the frames cut at once I end up making 7 cards in all different rainbow orders.  (I'll share the other 6 another time).  This one uses a super cool W&W birdie with an awesome mohawk!  I thought it only right his mohawk match the background and I paired him with an MFT sentiment.  (I have very few W&W sentiments but will hopefully remedy that situation soon).

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Bird from So Tweet) W&W, (Sentiment from Geometric Greenery) My Favourite Things
Inks:  (VersaMark, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukeniko
Embossing Powder:  (Opaque Bright White Super Fine) Wow
Die:  (All Framed Up) Reverse Confetti
Markers:  (R17, R29, YR16, Y38, Y15, YG95, BG15, B24, V17) Copic
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Gems:  Recollections

Next is a card for Mayuri's Background Building/Pattern Making challenge at W&W which I paired with the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge (I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the right).  I used the stamping off technique to create the Merry background and then inked over it with some Distress Ink.  The Christmas die cut is layered twice and covered with Wink of Stella.  I used a black gem to dot the "i" since I lost the actual dot somewhere on my desk in the process.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Merry from The Big, The Bold and the Merry) Winnie & Walter
Inks:  (Real Red, Cherry Cobbler) Stampin' Up, (Barn Door Distress Ink) Ranger
Die:  (Christmas) Winnie & Walter
Glitter:  (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig
Gems:  Recollections

Finally is a card for Lydia's Smooshing challenge at W&W and the design was inspired by Tracey's card at Muse.  I inked and spritzed Mustard Seed Distress Ink on an acrylic block and stamped it onto watercolor paper and then did the same on top of it with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.  I die cut the W&W rose  from that and added a grey outline diecut to it.  I stated the leaves and popped the flower up on foam tape.  The sentiment is an oldie but goodie from PTI.

I had hoped to play along with all the W&W challenges but unfortunately fell short by 2.  I had a lot of fun with it though and used a lot of NBUS which is always a plus.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Grey) Stampin' Up, (Watercolor) Ranger
Stamps:  (Leaves from In Bloom: Julie's Roses) Winnie & Walter, (Sentiment from Birthday Bash Sentiments) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko, (Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed) Ranger
Die:  (In Bloom:  Maggie's Roses) Winnie & Walter
Gems:  Recollections

Two Birds (But No Stone)

Hello hello!

I have two cards to share today.  First is for Keren's Lovely Layers Challenge for the Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations using the sketch from Merry Monday.  Another adorable birdie in a Santa hat makes an appearance!  I used W&W dies for the scalloped layers and the birdie is popped up on foam tape.  I thought it was kind of fun to have a yellow card base - not your usual Christmas colour but it helps make the birdie pop a bit.  I also added Stickles and Wink of Stella to his hat for some festive sparkle.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (12x12 polka dots) Doodlebug
Stamps:  (Bird & ornaments from Happy Owlidays, Christmas from The Big, The Bold and The Merry) Winnie & Walter
Inks:  (Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukeniko, (Real Red) Stampin' Up
Die:  (Scalloped rectangle) Winnie & Walter
Markers:  (R17, R29, Y15, Y38) Copic
Glitter:  (Frosted Lace Stickles) Ranger, (Clear Wink of Stella) Zig

This next card is for the AAA Cards sketch challenge.  It had me stumped until I came across this Memory Box branch while I was flipping through dies.  It seemed perfect for the stripe on the sketch.  This little MB bird is an old favourite - one of those dies I've definitely gotten my money's worth from!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Essentials Collection 6x6) Authentique
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Calm & Gentle) CAS-ual Fridays
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukeniko
Die:  (Perched Reed Bird, Woodland Branch) Memory Box

Brusho Flower

Hi there and Happy Friday!

Just popping in quickly with another card for the Winnie & Walter World Cardmaking Day challenges.  This one is for Kate's stencil challenge.  I don't have any W&W stencils so I used an Altnew one with some texture paste.  I sprayed some Brushos on watercolor paper and stamped a bloom from Addie's Garden onto it.  I love how the colours came out and I didn't want to detract too much from them so I stuck with a neutral grey for the leaves.  Everything is fussy cut and popped up on foam tape and I added a simple sentiment with some gems.

I'm also going to enter this in the Simon Says Wednesday Thinking of You challenge.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Smokey Slate) Stampin' Up, (Watercolor) Ranger

Happy Owl-idays

Hi there!

To celebrate World Card Making Day Winnie & Walter posted a whole slew of challenges and gave us a week to play along.  Of course the first one I jumped on was Heather's CAS challenge - I figured I'd ease into it with something in my comfort zone.  :)

I fell in love with these holiday owls as soon as I saw them - they are so adorable!  I had fun Copic coloring them and I paired them with this frame that I was lucky enough to win when it was released.  I used Stickles and Wink of Stella on the hats and scarf for some added sparkle.  Simple but so sweet!

I'm also going to enter this in the Addicted to Stamps and More Holiday challenge.

That's it for now.  Hope you're having a great week!

CASology #270

Welcome to Week 270 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

When I saw this week's cue word I immediately thought of odd as in quirky and this MFT sentiment was just begging to be put to use.  I had fun digging through patterned papers to find the perfect stripes for the glasses - I knew it was there somewhere!  I inked up the last word of the sentiment separately and popped it up to make it really stand out and added a few gems to the glasses for extra quirkiness.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

Fierce Friend

Hello, Monday!

I'm starting the week with a card for the Colour Throwdown and MFT Sketch challenges.  This adorable little tiger finally got to see some ink.  I love his cheeky little face and the way he's about to pounce.  Pretty sure his little cub roar would be the cutest sound ever too.  :)

See you tomorrow for CASology

Greetings from a Bear

Hi there!

It's been a gorgeous day here.  We spent some time down at the dock this morning but I managed a little crafty time this afternoon.

This card is for CAS Colours & Sketches and Just Add Ink.  I finally inked up this adorable bear from Winnie & Walter.  I love his chubbiness - so so cute!  I ended up paper piecing him along with the flowers and leaves and put gems on his wheels and his flower.  The speech bubble is from Mama Elephant.

Hope you have a great week!
